Shakira Barrera stars in the Disney+ Marvel series

Best known for his performances in shows such as EMBER, Shakira Barrera has joined Marvel Studios’ upcoming series Iron heart, according to a report from Deadline. No further details about the show or her character have been revealed yet. Barrera joins the series in the lead role Dominique Thorne as Riri Williams, a brilliant inventor who builds her own armor. The character will make his first screen appearance this year Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.

Alongside Barrera and Thorne, Iron heart will also star Anthony Ramoswho will take part in next year’s Transformers: Rise of the Beasts in an undisclosed role. Alden Ehrenreichwho previously played the character Han Solo in his own spinoff film, will also star in the spin-off series Manny Montana (Graceland), Regan Aliyah (BF for rent), Shea Coulee (RuPaul’s Drag Race All stars), and Zoe Terakes (Nine perfect strangers). More information about the series will likely be revealed as its release date approaches.

The series must be directed by Sam Bailey (You are so talented) and Angela Barnes (Blind spotting) and will be executive produced by Ryan Coolerwho is best known for directing Black Panther and its long-awaited sequel. Along with Coogler, president of Marvel Studios Kevin Feige, Louis D’Esposito, Zinzi Coolerand Victor Alonso will be executive producing Iron heart with Brad Winderbaum, Sev Ohanianand Zoe Nagelhoutand the main writer of the series Chinaka Hodge.

Barrera currently participating Suspended, an original comedy series from Freevee that debuted in August. She has previously appeared briefly in Agents of SHIELD, another Marvel series, as the character Agent King. Alongside the publication of Iron heartis she also set to appear in The banka horror film directed by Matt Leslie and Stephen J. Smith.

Iron heart is one of several Marvel Studios shows currently in development for Disney+. Other shows on the way include Secret Invasionwhich contains the return of Samuel L. Jackson like Nick Fury and Ben Mendelsohn as Skrull Talos. Echocontributor Alaqua Cox as the titular character who first appeared in Hawkeye is also currently in production along with an untitled Halloween Special, and The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Specialamong many more. More information about upcoming movies and TV shows from Marvel Studios will likely be revealed during this year’s D23 expo, which begins on September 9.
